Didn't bring my camera out today. Idiot.

Today we happened upon the premiere of Iron Man 3! We saw Robert Downey Jr! In real life! Just stumbled upon him! Amazing! Oh and I won 2 regular drinks from McDonald's.

Margaret Thatcher

Honestly, if you want to see proper pictures you shouldn't look here! I was 6 rows back and was behind the tallest people in the world. One of whom was standing on a box!

I got these pics by reaching as high as I could in the air and pointing my camera in random directions!

There were 4000 police officers all together. Here's 2 of them!

Here are the people I saw practicing yesterday. Looking slightly more fancy today!

This is the Guard of Honour.

 Twice.

The took their time but the oldies finally learned what to do! The horses on the right are pulling the cart that's carrying the coffin.

Here's the coffin going up the stairs! The queen arrived just before this and everyone sang God Save the queen. There was a military band which played the funeral march and the bell of St Paul's slowly rang while the coffin was going up the stairs. It reminded me, for some reason, of Doctor Faustus (Don't worry if you don't know what that means, why would you? It's a play from the Renaissance and a completely pointless thing to even bring up!)

After everyone had gone into St Paul's I gave up on fighting the crowd and went around and waited by the road. When the ceremony had finished the hearse drove by.

And then... THE QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

So there were no protestors that I saw or heard of. One guy standing near me yelled "Long live society!" when the coffin was being taken up the stairs but everyone around him just went "shhhh" and then giggled. I love the British.

Some American guy near me got cross at these Asian ladies for standing on a box and taking pictures. He accused them of being disrespectful and that "You wouldn't be taking pictures if it was your mother's funeral" but again everyone near by just said "shhh".

Tuesday

Yesterday I went for a job interview at the cutest cake shop and cafe at Borough Market. They were lovely and I was one of the lucky 7 the whittled the 182 applications down to. It was only advertised for a few days too!

Tomorrow I have another job interview at a funky cafe by Marble Arch (I get that Leonard Cohen song stuck in my head every time I say marble arch!) which I hope I get because they use Monmouth coffee which is YUM! And also they do festivals too so I would have double opportunities to work at festivals!

Anyways, so after my interview I wandered around London and stumbled upon them rehearsing for Margaret Thatcher's funeral. Here are some pics!

HORSIES!!!

These guys didn't need much practice to get it right.

The oldies on the other hand didn't have quite the same military precision.

Gerry: "No, he said left foot, Bernard."
Bernard: "What did you say about harvesting sugarcane in Brazil?"

This pigeon either had no sense of occasion, or was trying to show the olds how it's done by hopping from the top step to the very bottom then casually walking off.

Queen Anne was keeping an eye on the proceedings.

They had all the security gates set up already. They are just pretending to be metal detectors I think. Because on the day I came from St Paul's station and didn't ever go through one! Perhaps they were just there for crowd control. Or maybe they are there to catch aliens. Or robots that live among us... Or wizards...

This is the Millennium bridge. They have fixed it now - it doesn't sway from side to side anymore. Which I have to say, I was a little disappointed about.

That big building is that TATE Modern which we went to a wee while ago. We saw loads of amazing paintings by Monet, Picasso, Mondrian, Ernst, de Chirico, Lichtenstein ohmygosh the list goes on! And some things we saw were just plain odd. Like 2 chairs stacked on each other... Why?!

St Paul's from Millennium Bridge.

The London Eye! Which I am yet to have gone on.

Big Ben and Parliament.

Lastly I went and found the Old Bailey! Which I thought would be by Parliament and Scotland Yard for some reason, but in reality, is right by St Paul's. Where I started. Thank goodness for the Underground!

P.S. The tube is real fun, but also terrifying. Some of the trains go ridiculously fast. It's like being in an airplane when it takes off on the runway! Zooooooooom!!

Check out this hooded figure on the Old Bailey! Scary! I wouldn't want to be a criminal and have to walk under that. Also, the Old Bailey is the building he blows up in V for Vendetta. But obviously, that's not why it's famous... *tumbleweed*

Windsor

Today we tried to go to Legoland but got as far as Windsor not knowing how long it would take to get there, and blatantly leaving the house far too late and so decided to just wander around Windsor loooking for the queen and go to Legoland another day.

We found this weird wonky house.

 And Vicky.

 And this place.
 And this place.

It was so warm I didn't have to wear my cardigan! Look, bare arms!

Me and Robert by the river enjoying the sunshine.

This one's for all the Nelson people!

Me and Robert by the Jubilee Fountain.

This is just me by the Jubilee Fountain with the Windsor castle in the background. By the way, the Windsor castle is huge! We were thinking that Lizzie probs has a Jetsons style conveyer belt that takes her around inside. Or maybe she has an indoor horse and carriage. Who knows. For 17 pounds you can find out! But it's much more fun and financially savvy to imagine the queen flying around with wax wings like Icarus.

Here is a rather important looking stone gentleman.

 Robert beside  Eton College.

Eton College, usually referred to as Eton, is a British independent boarding school located in Eton, near Windsor in England. It educates over 1,300 pupils, aged between 13 to 18 years and was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI as "The King's College of Our Lady of Eton besides Wyndsor".

Just a bit of information for you. In case it comes up in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

LEAVES!! Real leaves! That means spring is here. Not that I should care. I did just come from a summer. But it is exciting that it is starting to turn into summer again. Summer 2.0. Coming to your streets and parks very soon.

Just some buildings. Not sure why I am telling you. I am sure you can deduce for yourself that they are buildings.

Whotcha got there buddy? A severed head you say? That's gross. Put it down.

Just thought I'd try out some of the effects.

 Ooooo.

 Aaaahhh.

 Wooooow.

 Sweeeet.

Innnnnteresting.
